(1) CitySec isn't a hacker con, for three reasons: (a) most of the people who go are security professionals, and (b) it happens every month, and (c) it's totally informal, with no sponsorships, talks, or fees.
(0) I'm not sure I'm sold on a con-for-it's-own-sake in Chicago. ChicagoCon is a for-profit enterprise that promotes for-profit training for certifications I'm pretty dubious about. I have no opinions one way or the other about ChicagoCon, but I feel like I'm going to see all the people I'd care to meet at ChicagoCon at ChiSec, and I won't have to pay to do it.
