Put me down for the SXSSec (cute :-). I was thinking of doing one, but if someone's already pinged on it, I'm happy just to show up.

I'd love a LosAngelesSec (pronounced like "lasik", naturally) or a SanDiegoSec.

It's like 2600 meetings for people who have jobs.

or ISSA meetings for people who have lives.

The Austin group (at least the one I am part of), is called AHA. More sushi and poker than technical...
  • Thomas Ptacek · 3 years ago
Is the Austin meeting primarily about security? And, equally as important, could my dad go to an AHA meeting and not feel totally out of place?
  • Todd · 3 years ago
HD forgot to include beer...it is also a very important part of our Austin meetings...
  • HD · 3 years ago
If your dad eats sushi, gambles, and likes to talk about security at the same time, sure :-) If there is enough interest, we can schedule an open meeting. The current system is invite-only and includes about ~25 Austinites. If you live in Austin and would be interested in this kind of event, drop me an email: (austin-hackers[at]metasploit.com).

You should do an open meeting, just to do one. =)
  • wpn · 3 years ago
Is it about Security security, or hacking? I do sushi, but not poker or beer. And I had my fill of "d00d, guess what I just broke?" in the '80s.

("ISSA for people who have lives" ... good one)
  • Thomas Ptacek · 3 years ago
I'll say that ChiSec is about security as a profession.
  • wpn · 3 years ago
"Security as a profession" -- that's the sort of thing I'd want to attend. Not because I want to pay dues or flash my (nonexistent) certifications, but because I want to meet real people who are building real solutions. Obviously, that goes just fine with sushi and beer too, but there's got to be room at the table for the sandwich-and-diet-Coke crowd too.

It'd be nice to set one up here in Orlando, FL.
  • JAS · 3 years ago
Count me in for BeanSec - and I can probably get Jaquith to attend as well :)

Would anyone be interested in a JaxSec for Jacksonville Florida?
  • Chris_B · 3 years ago
    EdoSec (Tokyo) anyone?
  • Sharkey · 2 years ago
RainSec (Pdx) is up and growing.
